Office of Publications: Job Management
Need: As one of 14 NIH sponsored CFAR's in the country, DUCFAR needed an outlet to provide news about its research to the medical, media, and lay communities. Also, they needed an easy, high profile way to recruit the best researchers and staff the world has to offer. However, they did not have the technical expertise to create, let alone maintain the continually changing content.
Solution: InfoMatters implemented many of our newly updated modules for News Items, Jobs, Links, What's New, Mailing Lists, Feedback, and more!
Benefit: A cool, "funky" looking site that houses a ton of functionality and performance, and whose content can be updated by non-technical people with just a browser!
Duke Medical Center News Office
Need: DUMC's News Office needed a more current conduit for all information concerning Duke University Medical Center.
Solution: InfoMatters leveraged the module system to create a full-scale, database driven, website that allows postings by the Medical Center itself, as well as postings by other hospitals and research facilities. It uses almost a dozen modules, including their online quarterly magazine.
Benefit: Exposure is much broader and more cost effective on the World Wide Web. Allowing postings by other facilities makes this site a valuable resource nationwide.
Duke Pub: Automated Website Creation Tools
Background:
Duke University Medical Center's Office of Publications provides creative services as well as publication production management to various departments at Duke University, one of the nations foremost Universities and Hospitals. They produce both one time, project based work, as well as ongoing publications, such as the bi-monthly "Inside" magazine.
Need: The Publications Office needed to create online versions of its bimonthly newsletter called "Inside". However, many aspects of Inside's web production were time consuming, tedious, and errror prone.
Solution: InfoMatters wrote a set of custom utilities to automate much of the tedious, repetitive, manual processes of publishing a by-monthly newsletter on the web. These utilities helped cut down on errors and made it more labor intensive by automatically generating a table of contents with links to individual stories, maintaining lists and links to archived issues automatically, providing full text site searching, etc.
Benefit: InfoMattters combines the skills of database development with website creation skills to ease the administrative burden of keeping a website current and fresh.
Duke Pub: Job Management System
Need: The Publication Office needed a way to keep track of their publication projects from the initial request through to delivery of the completed projects.
Solution: InfoMatters created a jobs management database system which tracks production of written publications including, internal creative service time reporting by project, spec sheet creation, and bid forms for printers and other vendors involved in the production process.
Benefit: InfoMattters has the skills and experience to handle business and accounting solutions in a real time, multi-user environment.
