Academic Program Inventory Go Top
The API Web Application tracks and reports upon the almost 4,000 academic programs certified or included by the UNC system. Faculty, students, and administrators can research the various degrees available to them in differing categories of study, at various universities. This system combines two separate division's databases into one central one in an auto-updating manner.

CAPSTAT Go Top
The Capital Expenditures Status System (CAPSTAT) is a terrific example of a web application that puts a streamlined, simple interface on a complex business challenge! There is a great deal of data validation, process enforcement, two-way communications, and anticipatory data defaults. Note: the client chose FileMaker Pro for the database software; it provides sub-second response time while dealing with upwards of 5,000 records. Many of the detail reports make multiple database calls - four alone for a project's detail (eg, the project, fund sources, budget adjustments, subprojects) - and the system still cruises right along. Incidentally, we are using this sites' flow and functionality as the basis for a conference presentation on "Designing Web Applications" (we'll add a link here when it's ready).

Institutes & Centers Go Top
Institutes and Centers typically offer interdisciplinary programs attracting faculty, students, and staff from various academic departments. This web application deals with the planning, establishing, and reviewing of institutes and centers in The University of North Carolina System. Many reports are available showing cross sections and relationships between Research Centers Authorized by the Board of Governors, Public Service Centers Authorized by the Board of Governors, and Centers Approved for Planning by General Administration. They may be further distinguished as Institutional or Inter-Institutional entities.

International Educational Exchange Initiative (IEEI) Go Top
InfoMatters provided a key component of the IEEI's strategy to improve NC teacher access to international opportunities. This site is a resource for North Carolina K-12 classroom teachers and school administrators interested in international education and exchange. Here you'll find a number of searchable databases on resources ranging from educator exchange programs to scholarships to support teacher participation in exchanges. The database uses 14 related tablesa and is accessed via their intranet and via the web:

NCCIU International Directory Go Top
The North Carolina Center for International Understanding's (NCCIU) Triangle International Directory has more than 200 not-for-profit international organizations and agencies in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Entries include contact person, address, phone, fax, e-mail, and description. The directory is indexed by geographic area and activity. Ethnic organizations, educational offices, government agencies, and exchange organizations are included. For profit and student organizations are not listed. The directory is updated monthly.

Principal Fellows Go Top
The Principal Fellows program is a scholarship loan program funded by the North Carolina General Assembly and based upon academic merit (financial need is not a consideration) to assist interested individuals to earn the master's degree in school administration in preparation for a career in educational administration (assistant principal or principal). For eligibility details, check out the current requirements.

Staff Directory Go Top
This is an intranet application, restricted to UNC GA Staff Only. It serves as an online address book of UNC GA personnel and their contact information. It also conatins resources such as conference rooms, shared printers, fax machines, etc. It is thoroughly searchable, has special printing formats, and allows direct sending of emails.
