Durham Public School System Go Top

Background: The Durham Public Schools' vision is to ensure that all students achieve at highest potential regardless of reace, gender, or socio-economic status. Each student will make continuous progress and be at or above grade level.

Need: The school system came under increasing pressure to communicate better with a diverse set of interests: parents, the press, board members, prospective parents, etc.

Solution: InfoMatters was chosen to redo the Durham Public Schools website because of our proven experience in creating dynamic, easy to update database driven websites. The timing dovetails nicely with the Durham Public Library's push to make available public internet access stations. The new website will be brought live this fall.

Benefit: Non-technical administrators can easily add, maintain, and keep information current. This increased and more timely information can reach a far broader audience, at a fraction of the cost and environmental impact of printed materials.

Group B Strep Association Go Top

Background: Group B Strep Association (GBSA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of GBS infection, the number one killer of infants.

Need: GBSA needed to inform tens of thousands of people about this devasting, yet preventable disease in a more timely and cost effective manner. This organization has been showered with awards, which sharply increased demands for information, but which outstripped their budget and manpower resources. For instance, they received exposure from Hillary Clinton at the White House, Parents Magazine, and a PBS documentary which resulted in the Association's being innudated with requests for information and offers to help.

Solution: InfoMatters created a resource-laden website that is easy for non-technical people to access and maintain. This site receives over 10,000 hits per week and generates overwhelmingly positive feedback. Comments such as "You saved my baby's life" make InfoMatters proud that this site is one of its pro bono sites given to the community.

Benefit: This is a highly leveraged environment for keeping a diverse group of users (parents, medical professionals, lawyers, and at-risk adults) informed in an effective and timely manner. InfoMatters uses the same concepts for online support and/or promotion of other clients' products. Bottom line: we can help you get the word out!

Montessori Community School Go Top

Background: The Montessori Community School (MCS) provides superb education for preschool through middle school children. Children are respected as individuals and are encouraged to develop at their own pace. The Montessori classroom provides an environment where children are free to learn through the use of specially designed, self-correcting materials with the help and guidance of the teacher.

Need: MCS needed an easily updatable method and a widely accessible way to recruit new students. Prospects come not only from area residents but also from those transferring in from around the United States and, given the international bent of the Montessori Method, from around the world. However, the school cannot afford national and international advertising campaigns. Even if they could, traditional sound-byte campaigns would be ineffectual since a thorough exposure to the Montessori philosophy and its implementation is necessary for parents to feel comfortable making such an important decision as where their children will be educated.

Additionally, MCS needed to keep current parents dynamically informed about school events, news, board meetings, school closings, tuition, etc.

Solution: InfoMatters created a robust and dynamic website that is easy for non-technical administrators to maintain and keep current. The Internet provides the much needed, far reaching distribution mechanism for both school-specific and general Montessori information.

Benefit: InfoMatters knows how to promote websites to wide and diverse audiences. InfoMatters also knows how to create enjoyable user experiences that allow visitors to access their desired and needed information quickly and easily.

National Institutes of Health Go Top

Background: National Institutes of Health (NIH) is one of the world's foremost biomedical research centers. NIH conducts research in its own laboratories; supports the research of non-Federal scientists in universities, medical schools, hospitals, and research institutions throughout the country and abroad; helps in the training of research investigators; and fosters communication of biomedical information. We have worked with NIH's Division of Computer Research and Technology (DCRT) which provides efficient, cost-effective computing and networking services, technical advice, and collaboration in the computational sciences in support of NIH's research and management programs.

Need: NIH's DCRT needed to bring their personnel up to speed quickly on advanced Internet and Intrant creation tools in order that they be able to implement a number of database driven web solutions quickly and effectively.

Solution: InfoMatters trained them how to use some of these tools and to better create results through solutions-based training. We also helped them develop online database projects such as their interpreter services scheduling which allows people needing to use an interpreter to sign-up and track their requests over the World Wide Web.

Benefit: InfoMatters can go into corporate and government offices and "jump start" their professionals. We also provide high end support to bring projects to fruition in a more timely and effective manner when client personnel is stuck or short of resources or time.

One of the Largest Pharmaceutical Companies in the World Go Top

Background: While InfoMatters is bound by a strict non-disclosure agreement not to use this company's name, they are a Fortune 100 firm with exacting standards.

Need: One of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world needed a platform independent intranet solution for their Human Resources department.

Solution: We used the same combination of experience, skills, and InfoMatters' modules that we apply to our Internet websites to create an intranet to meet the business objectives and handle the traffic and information loads generated by a sizable HR office.

Benefit: Our solutions are flexible, adaptable, and scalable. Our systems can be deployed on a single computer in a standalone setting, on multi-user internal intranets, on shared extranets accessible internally or by validated, external vendors/clients, or globally via the Internet.

Z-Pix Go Top

Background: Z-PIX is a rapidly growing communications software and technology company.

Need: Z-Pix needed a front end to add and classify large numbers of images to their database publishing solution.

Solution: We created the front end in FaceSpan, an interface design and application builder which was co-created by our president! The system automatically scans a set of directories for graphic files, presents to the user a list for keywording, manipulates five part CMYK files as one, and adds thumbnails and catalog information to image databases. Given the high volume of files being manipulated at an Operating System level, a pure scripting system was too slow. Thus, our engineers wrote key functions in C++, thereby improving the speed a thousand-fold. We understand that Z-Pix's system is used in the marketing departments of Fortune 100 firms such as JC Penney, Fleming Foods, and others.

Benefit: InfoMatters can use highly leveraged tools and development environments to create custom standalone systems quickly and inexpensively. If we run into limitations with these tools we can resort to traditional programming in C++ or Java to get the job done. Thus, we provide the best of both worlds to our clients: developmental speed and application power.
